In 2015, five years after the launch of TROPICS MAGAZINE, the African DOers initiative was born — a visionary platform dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the continent’s most dynamic leaders, entrepreneurs, creatives, and innovators. Now, in 2025, African DOers marks its 10th anniversary, a milestone that underscores a decade of amplifying African excellence and inspiring a new generation of trailblazers.

Founded by Vénicia Guinot, the fearless Editor-in-Chief and founder of TROPICS MAGAZINE and the TROPICS MEDIA GROUP, African DOers was conceived as more than an awards list. It is a vibrant ecosystem that highlights the stories of Africans and Afro-descendants who are actively shaping the continent’s socio-economic transformation from within. Over the years, the initiative has grown into a flagship annual event and powerlist, spotlighting 700 top achievers across diverse sectors including business, technology, arts, culture, and social impact.

The African DOers Showcase, held annually since 2016, has become a landmark occasion in the African entrepreneurial calendar. It brings together thought leaders, innovators, and change agents from across the globe — united by a shared commitment to Africa’s future. The event not only honors individual achievements but fosters networking, collaboration, and mentorship, fueling the continent’s growth and global influence.
Reflecting on the journey, Vénicia Guinot emphasizes, “African DOers is our way of celebrating the incredible talent and resilience that define Africa today. For ten years, we have championed those who dare to dream and do, who break barriers and build legacies. This anniversary is a testament to the power of storytelling and community in driving Africa forward.”

The initiative’s impact is far-reaching. Beyond the annual powerlist and showcase, African DOers has catalyzed partnerships, inspired media coverage, and enhanced the visibility of African leaders on the world stage. Its digital platforms engage hundreds of thousands monthly, offering podcasts, interviews, and profiles that deepen understanding of Africa’s diverse success stories.
Looking ahead, African DOers plans to expand its footprint with the upcoming inaugural Annual Meeting & Retreat in Cabo Verde in December 2026 — a gathering designed to deepen connections, spark innovation, and chart new pathways for Africa’s doers and dreamers.

As African DOers celebrates a decade of excellence, it remains a beacon of hope and a call to action: to recognize, support, and amplify the changemakers who are defining Africa’s narrative—on their own terms, with their own voices.
